Mildred Hodgman Mahoney was born April 21, 1896 in Taunton, Massachusetts. She attended Pine Manor Junior College in 1918, and married John Joseph Mahoney in 1923. Thirteen years later she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Boston University, and in 1942 she received her Master's degree in Education from Radcliffe College. St 1946, c 368 established the Massachusetts Fair Employment Practice Commission, serving under the governor. St 1950, c 479 renamed it the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
